HOW TO LIGHTEN SKIN NATURALLY

Dark and dull skin can be caused by overexposure to the sun, environmental pollution, a medical condition, dry skin, stress, poor lifestyle choices, and prolonged use of chemical-based cosmetic products.
You can save yourself some time and money by using natural remedies that will effectively brighten and lighten your skin complexion.

1. Yogurt
Yogurt, a by-product of milk, has many nutrients that are good for the skin. It also contains lactic acid that has bleaching properties. The following remedies are suitable for all skin types.
• Gently rub plain yogurt onto your skin. Leave it on for a few minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Do this once daily for several weeks to notice a significant change in your complexion.
• You can also add a little lemon juice and some oatmeal to yogurt to make a thick paste, and apply it as a face mask. This remedy will also help keep your skin supple and moisturized.

2. Oranges
The most important ingredient in skin care is vitamin C, which you can get in abundance from oranges. Plus, oranges have bleaching properties that can lighten your skin tone.
It has been found that regular consumption of fresh orange juice can greatly improve the overall texture of your skin as well as its suppleness. To lighten your skin, oranges can be used in two different ways.
• Combine two tablespoons of orange juice and a pinch of powdered turmeric. Apply this mixture on your face and neck before going to bed. You can also apply it on your hands and legs. Wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes. Do this daily.

3. Honey
Honey helps bleach skin while also acting as a moisturizing agent. Dry skin is a common factor that contributes to an uneven skin tone. Honey also has antibacterial properties that can help fade age spots and acne scars.
• Apply pure honey to your face, leave it on for a few minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. This simple remedy will help remove dead skin cells, making your skin appear brighter and fresher than before. Do this once daily.

4. Lemons
The acidic property in lemons works as a natural bleaching agent for the skin and the high amount of vitamin C in them encourages new cell growth. Also, lemons have antioxidants that are very good for skin complexion.
• Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice and one teaspoon of turmeric powder. Apply this mixture on the skin and leave it on for half an hour. Wash it off with water. Do this once daily.
Note: When using these remedies, be sure there are no open wounds on your skin. The acidic nature of lemon juice can cause pain in open wounds. Also, lemon juice may not be suitable for sensitive skin or if you are allergic to lemons.

5. Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera can alleviate hyperpigmentation and restore your skin’s original color. Hyperpigmentation is one of the main causes of uneven skin tone.
• Cut the outer layers of an aloe vera leaf. Squeeze out the thick, jelly-like substance.
• Apply the gel thoroughly on your skin.
• Leave it on for about 30 minutes, and then wash it off with water.
• Do this at least twice daily for two weeks.

HOW TO WASH YOUR HAIR WITHOUT SHAMPOO NATURALLY

One of the best things I have done for my hair is to switch to homemade shampoo. It took me some time to figure out what works for my hair, but the effort was all worth it. And now my dandruff is gone, I have fewer hair falling out, and my hair have never felt and looked better – there is more shine.
These natural cleansers are already tried and tested by our past generations. Moreover they do not pollute our environment when they go down the drain.

1. Rhassoul Clay
To make a rhassoul cleanser, take 3 tablespoon rhassoul clay and add enough water to make a paste – consistency of a yoghurt or egg yolk. You can also add a teaspoon of oil to it, and stir well. To use, massage the rhassoul mixture into the scalp and hair, and leave it on for 3 to 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

2. Reetha or Soapnut berries
It is much simpler to use powder. To make reetha cleanser, mix 1 to 2 tablespoon of reetha powder with enough hot water to make a runny paste. Let this mixture sit for 5-10 minutes. To use, massage the mixture into your scalp and hair and leave it on for 5 minutes or so. Then rinse off.
If your hair is curly or thick you may want to use reetha tea vs powders as its easily washed out, while powder bits can remain into your hair.

3. Shikakai
For those with normal to dry hair, simply mix 2 to 3 tablespoons of shikakai powder with enough hot water to make a runny paste. Let this mixture sit for 5-10 minutes. To use, massage the mixture into your scalp and hair and leave it on for 5 minutes or so.
Shikakai gently cleans hair without stripping it of natural oils. As a natural hair conditioner, shikakai makes hair bouncy, shiny, and soft. What I also like about shikakai is that it is naturally pH balancing and helps to keep the scalp healthy and dandruff free.

4. Egg
To make an egg shampoo, simply whisk a couple of eggs and use this to wash your hair. Some people also add warm water (2 to 3 tablespoon for 1 egg) and a few drops of essential oils to mask the smell (I like to add 3-5 drops of peppermint essential oil).
There’s too much protein in the egg white, which can be drying for certain hair, especially people with already dry, coarse hair. Therefore, such hair types should just use the egg yolk instead of using whole egg.

5. Bentonite clay
To make bentonite cleanser, mix 2 to 3 tablespoon of bentonite clay with enough plain water (or 1 tablespoon aloe vera juice) to make a runny paste. Massage into your scalp and hair and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

6. Aloe vera
The best way to use aloe vera is straight from the plant. Here’s a good instruction on how to make your own aloe vera juice from the leaf. Fresh gel/juice creates a good lather and has a viscous, slippery texture. Massage into your scalp and hair and let it sit for 3-5 minutes, then rinse off.

7. Hibiscus
To make hibiscus cleanser, simply grind a handful of leaves and couple of flowers with a little water to make a slippery paste. To use, massage into your scalp and hair and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse off.
